SUMMARY:Getting Started with ArcGIS for Desktop I
DESCRIPTION:Continue your exploration of the world of geographic 
 information systems (GIS)\, powerful mapping and analysis tools for spatial 
 data\, with the ArcGIS platform\, which is widely used in research 
 institutions and all levels of government.\n\nDuring this workshop on 
 Wednesday\, April 4\, 2018\, from 9 a.m.- noon.\, you will become familiar 
 with the concept of data layers as well as symbolizing\, labeling and 
 making a basic map in the ArcGIS ArcMap application. Become familiar with 
 the common tasks in ArcGIS. Export high-quality map images for publication 
 for using this GIS tool\, which is available in several labs across campus 
 and allows you to map and analyze data sets.\n\nThis workshop is 
 co-sponsored by UD’s IT Client Support and Services. It will be co-taught 
 by Olena Smith\, lead geospatial information consultant for IT Client 
 Support and Services\, and John Stevenson\, interim head of the Multimedia 
 Collections and Services Department for UD Library\, Museums & 
 Press.\n\nWhile workshops are free of charge\, registration is required as 
 seating is limited. This workshop is open to UD students\, faculty and
