SUMMARY:Gathering Citation Data to Understand Your Research Impact
DESCRIPTION:Are you curious about how your research is being used and 
 cited? Do you want to explore metrics that provide deeper insights into the 
 impact of your work? This workshop is designed for faculty and graduate 
 student authors interested in learning how to access and analyze data to 
 better understand the reach and influence of their research.\n\nBased on 
 feedback from UD faculty and research consultations\, this session 
 introduces participants to valuable capabilities within our current 
 resources that may not be widely known. While we won’t be introducing new 
 services\, we’ll explore how existing tools can help you assess your 
 work’s impact through various metrics.\n\nWe’ll cover well-known 
 metrics like journal impact factors and researcher H-index\, along with 
 emerging "altmetrics" that provide additional insights. As traditional 
 sources like Google Scholar face challenges in accuracy\, we’ll also 
 highlight the growing importance of alternative platforms\, such as 
 OpenAlex\, for obtaining more reliable data.\n\nBy the end of the 
 workshop\, you will have a clearer understanding of the available resources 
 and how they can help you track the impact of your work in meaningful ways. 
 Whether you’re looking to enhance your publication strategy or simply 
 gain a deeper understanding of your research’s influence\, this session 
 will equip you with the knowledge and tools to move forward.\n\nPaige 
 Morgan\, digital publishing and copyright librarian\, will lead the 
 workshop.\n\nThis virtual workshop is open to UD students\, faculty and 
 staff. It is co-sponsored by the Graduate College. \n\nRegistration is 
 required. Once registered\, you will receive an email with details on how 
 to join the workshop via Zoom. The workshop will not be recorded.\n
