About this Event
Join Victoria S. Kenyon, curator of the Photo / Object exhibition and doctoral candidate in the Department of Art History and Jon Cox, associate professor of art and design, for a hands-on cyanotype workshop that combines photographic history, material process and creative experimentation.
The session begins in Old College Gallery with a brief talk on early photographic methods, including an introduction to the cyanotype and an opportunity to examine two cyanotype prints on view in the Photo / Object exhibition in the Old College West Gallery. Participants will learn about the chemistry, history and cultural significance of this iconic blueprint process.
Following the talk, attendees will take part in a guided studio workshop. Using one of their own digital images, participants can create a digital negative, hand-coat archival paper with cyanotype emulsion, expose their print to ultraviolet light and develop a finished cyanotype to take home.
No prior experience with photography or printmaking is required. All materials are provided at no cost.
Registration is required and will close on March 24, 2026. This is a rain-or-shine event.
