About this Event
How are University of Delaware students really using generative AI tools like ChatGPT in their coursework? What do they think about AI’s role in learning and writing?
Join us for this one-hour seminar to explore key findings from recent campus-wide, survey-based research on students’ use and perceptions of generative AI.
Two UD faculty members will share insights from separate but complementary projects:
- A survey by the AI for Teaching and Learning Work Group examining frequency of use and student attitudes toward AI in education.
- Research led by undergraduate tutor-researchers at the UD Writing Center, exploring how students use both generative AI and writing center tutoring for writing support.
Together, these findings offer a unique look into how AI is shaping the student experience at UD—and what that means for teaching and learning in the digital age.
Presenters:
Joshua Wilson, associate professor, School of Education
An expert in automated writing evaluation, Dr. Wilson’s research explores the integration of AI in assessment and instruction. He is co-editor of the Routledge International Handbook of Automated Essay Evaluation, a leading work in the field.
Jennifer Follett, associate professor, Department of English and director, University Writing Center
With decades of experience in writing center leadership, Dr. Follett’s research focuses on peer tutoring, student motivation, and the evolving role of writing centers in the age of AI. She recently hosted the 2025 Mid-Atlantic Writing Centers Association conference at UD.
