About this Event

Geographic Information Systems (GIS) are powerful tools for managing, analyzing and visualizing geographic data. At this workshop, we'll explore how ArcGIS StoryMaps and ArcGIS Online can help you bring your geographic data to life through interactive and engaging visualizations. Whether you're in the humanities, sciences, or any other discipline, this workshop will show you how to integrate GIS with storytelling and data dissemination.

ArcGIS Online provides an easy-to-use platform for creating dynamic, web-based maps that display your data in an engaging way. But once you’ve created your map, how do you present it for maximum impact? During this workshop, we’ll introduce you to a variety of popular Esri web-mapping applications (Instant Apps, Dashboards, StoryMaps, Experience Builder, Field Maps, Survey123 and QuickCapture) designed to enhance the user experience and make your maps more accessible.

You will discover how to present your content in a meaningful way and provide optimized web map interactivity to enhance user experience while also learning how to capture data quickly and efficiently in the field and share information with your office.

The workshop will be led by Lillian Wang, GIS specialist and cartographer for the Delaware Geological Survey; Andrea Wedo, GIS professional at Jacobs; Olena Smith, lead geospatial information consultant for UD IT Research Cyberinfrastructure; and Daniel Peart, data services librarian. It is co-sponsored by UD IT Research Cyberinfrastructure, the Delaware Geological Survey and the Graduate College.

This hybrid workshop is open to the public.

Registration is required. You may choose to join us in person or via Zoom. Once registered, you will receive an email with details on how to join the workshop via Zoom. The workshop will not be recorded.
