About this Event

In higher education, students who are linguistically and culturally diverse are expected to engage in scholarly conversation through writing from multiple sources, but they can often find such tasks to be particularly challenging.

During this workshop, the facilitators will discuss the connections between reading, writing and research practices to explore how these practices can work together to support students in fostering scholarly conversations. You will also learn about low-stakes writing tasks and activities that you can incorporate into your teaching to provide scaffolding for students to read, write and research for higher-stakes writing tasks like research papers.

Ju-A Hwang, assistant professor of English, and Lauren Wallis, First Year Experience and student success librarian, will lead the workshop.

This in-person workshop is designed for those who teach at UD. It is co-sponsored by the Department of English and the Graduate College.
