About this Event

The freedom to read is never guaranteed—it’s defended.

As book bans continue to rise across the country, readers, educators and communities are stepping up to protect the First Amendment and the right to access ideas. This closing event of Banned Books Week invites you to learn more about how you can make a difference. This table event is your final chance to join the conversation and commit to action.

Stop by our table to:

  • Discover ways to stand up against censorship in your community
  • Learn how to challenge book bans and support educational freedom
  • Connect with resources that help protect intellectual freedom for all
  • Celebrate the role readers play in defending democracy and free expression

Presented in partnership with the UD Department of English, this event is part of our campus-wide Banned Books Week programming, which celebrates the freedom to read and raises awareness about the dangers of censorship.

Don’t miss the highlight of the week: the Banned Books Read-Out on Wednesday, October 8, 2025, where students, faculty, staff and the community bring banned and challenged works to life.
